Techstars Startup Weekend Canada Competition

September 1st- October 1st
Techstars Startup Weekend events across Canada will take place between September 1st - October 1st, 2017. The winners from each event become finalists for a national online pitch event to compete for the grand prize.
Techstars Startup Weekend is a global movement, a 54-hour weekend event that brings together innovators, entrepreneurs, makers, developers, startup enthusiasts, designers, and more to pitch ideas and form teams to develop a startup over the course one weekend. On the final day (Sunday), participants pitch their startup to a judging panel that determines the winners.

Managing Director, Techstars Toronto
Sunil Sharma is Managing Director for Techstars Toronto. Techstars Toronto is a city program and Techstars' first accelerator in Canada. Techstars Toronto is a joint venture between Techstars and Real Ventures (Canada's most active venture capital fund).
Jeanine Jacobson
Founder Institute, Los Angeles and San Diego Partner
Jeanine Jacobson is the longest tenured Founder Institute Managing Director, and as such she has been instrumental in growing entrepreneurs, the curriculum, and local programs.In fact, while the Founder Institute currently operates chapters in over 170 cities worldwide, Jeanine launched the first ever chapter outside of Silicon Valley in Autumn 2009 (in San Diego/ Orange County). Since then, Jeanine also runs the Los Angeles Founder Institute Chapter, and has played a strong role in building the vibrant startup ecosystem in Southern California today.
Sam Haffar
Principal, Real Ventures
Sam joined Real Ventures from Silicon Valley, where he has actively been involved in starting and growing top tech companies for nearly a decade. Only six months after launching his first company while in university, Sam was offered a founding team role at Chegg, a leading education technology company where he drove many of the key growth initiatives and marketing strategies. Chegg went public in 2013. After Chegg, Sam ran marketing Kno, an education technology company backed by Andreessen Horowitz that creates engaging digital learning technologies, the company was later acquired by Intel. Before making the move to Montreal, Sam ran marketing and sales for EAT Club, a fast growing venture backed food tech company that provides enterprise catering solutions for companies.

How do I participate?
A:
Find the city closest to you under the "Competing Cities" list and click on the photo image to go to the community site page. You can then purchase a ticket for the event of your choosing! No startup experience needed, simply curiosity and a will to join or lead a team!

My city isn't listed, can I still organize or participate?
A:
Applications have closed to host a Startup Weekend during this competition. The availability to participate has not! You can purchase a ticket up until the Friday evening of the event of your choosing!
